<p>The present invention provides an instant messaging system and method for sharing information. The system comprises multiple clients, a messaging server, a global server, and query servers. The messaging server is connected to the clients, the clients are connected to the query servers and the global server respectively through the messaging server, and the messaging server is connected to the global server through the query servers. The clients transmit user information to the global server through the messaging server, the user information is stored in the global server, and the global server synchronizes the user information to the query servers. When the number of query tasks received by the query servers from the clients exceeds a threshold, the clients triggering a query task allocation operation allocate the query tasks exceeding the threshold according to a task processing priority and a task receiving policy of the query servers.
