<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor cooling method capable of directly cooling cooling-water in a reactor even when neither an external power source nor an emergency power source is available. <P>SOLUTION: When a reactor is scrammed, steam guided from a reactor pressure vessel (RPV)1 into a heat exchanger 3 is condensed by a heat pipe 23 disposed in the heat exchanger 3 to generate condensed water. Heat transmitted through the heat pipe 23 is discharged from radiator plates 24 outside a reactor building 32. The condensed water flows into a pressure vessel 14 through a pipe 22 and is stored in the pressure vessel 14. The pressure vessel 14 is connected to the RPV1 via a pipe 8 provided with a valve 16 and a pipe 41 provided with a valve 42. When a water level of the condensed water in the pressure vessel 14 reaches an upper limit water level at which a level switch 17 is activated, the valves 16 and 42 are opened and the condensed water in the pressure vessel 14 is injected into the RPV1 due to gravity thereof. Cooling-water in the RPV1 is directly cooled by injection of the condensed water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
