The panel unit (1) has a support structure consisting of graphically designed coated elements, where a protection structure (3) is visible as non-flying obstacle to the bird eye and is non-visible for the human eye or appears translucent or is recongnizable as bird protection sturcture. Luminescence pigments are mixed with the graphically designed coated elements for enhanced contrast effect of the protection structure for the bird eye. The luminescence pigments absorb the day light in a certain wave length range. The protection structure has a laminated insulating glass (4). An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a panel unit.
