PURPOSE: A positive electrode active material with improved performance for a lithium secondary battery is provided to secure excellent electrochemical characteristics and structural stability by controlling an average granularity of precursors. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode active material comprises a first lithium composite oxide core unit capable of the intercalation/deintercalation of lithium ions and a second lithium composite oxide shell unit different from the core unit. The first lithium composite oxide comprises LiCoO_2 and the second lithium composite oxide comprises LiNi_(1-x-y)Co_xMn_yO_2, wherein 0<=x<=0.8, 0<=y<=0.5. |
