<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of reliability of a protection function of a protection plate part. <P>SOLUTION: A terminal fitting F comprises a body part 10 that is molded by bending a plate material and whose front end has a square cylindrical shape opened as a tab insertion port 15; an elastic contact piece 16 supported by a substrate part 14 constituting the body part 10 and housed in the body part 10; and a protection plate part 24 extending to block one part of the tab insertion port 15 from a front edge of the substrate part 14.
