The present invention relates to an apparatus for inducing sleep and a control method thereof, and more particularly to an inducing apparatus which induces a user into deep sleep or changes or stops the state of deep sleep by stimulating at least one of the five senses in consideration of the state of the user, and a control method thereof. The apparatus for inducing sleep according to one embodiment of the present invention can include: a sleeping state sensing unit for detecting the sleeping state of a user and the location of at least one part of the user's body; an output unit for stimulating at least one of the five senses of the user through vibration, sound, light, taste and/or aroma; and a control unit for controlling the output unit so as to transmit the output for maintaining or changing the sleeping state of the user according to the sensed sleeping state and the location of the at least one part of the user's body.
