<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which: in an image heating device employing an electromagnetic induction method, fixing failure and wrinkles occur on paper due to temperature decrease at both ends in a standby state (standby mode). <P>SOLUTION: An image heating device detects temperatures at both ends and a central portion of a heat generation pair 1 that heats an image on a recording material, and then switches the temperature controls between the both ends and the central portion in accordance with the temperature difference between the both ends and the central portion.
