<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of excellently performing the opening and closing operation of an upper unit which can be rotated with respect to an apparatus main body and has a slide mechanism and to provide a bumper used for the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: an image forming means 1,000 which forms an image; the upper unit 1,500 which can rotate around a first shaft 1,300 with respect to the image forming means 1,000; a slide portion 1,800 which is provided in the upper unit 1,500 and can slide in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the first shaft 1,300; and an energizing means which applies an energizing force in a direction where the upper unit 1,500 is opened with respect to the image forming means 1,000 to the upper unit 1,500. Further, the image forming apparatus is provided with an energizing force changing means for performing change so that the energizing force may be decreased according to the fact that the slide portion 1,800 slides with respect to the upper unit 1,500 in a direction where the slide portion 1,800 goes toward a side where the first shaft 1,300 is attached from a side opposite to the side where the first shaft 1,300 of the upper unit 1,500 is attached. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
