<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic keyboard musical instrument capable of detecting a cause and a state of a fault in a wider range, and informing them to a user, and to provide a program for implementing its control method. <P>SOLUTION: A driving control processing section 4a uses a timer 7 to count a time period from when drive-on request is output to a drive control section 3c, to when damper release responding to the drive-on request is received from a scan section 3d. When the counting time period is more than a first time-out period, the driving control processing section 4a determines that a certain fault occurs in a predetermined device, and notifies "damper release, no reaction" to an application 4b. In the same way, the driving control processing section 4a uses the timer 7 to count a time period from when drive-off request is output to the drive control section 3c, to when keyboard key-off responding to the drive-off request is received from the scan section 3d.
