FIELD: physics.SUBSTANCE: spectrometer has an infrared source, a gas sample cell, a scanning mirror supporting a diffraction grating, having a plurality of parallel lines and lying on the path of the infrared beam after passage thereof through the gas sample cell such that the diffraction grating splits the infrared beam into a first-order beam and a second-order beam, a resonance scanner excitation system and a divider which can direct first-order and second-order beams on the first and second paths, respectively.
