<p>The present invention is a fault diagnosis method for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) device (36) provided with an EGR path (40a), one end of which communicates with an intake path (24a) and the other end of which communicates with an exhaust gas path (35a), for leading a portion of the exhaust gas expelled by an engine (10) to the intake path (24a) as EGR gas; an EGR control valve (41) disposed at one end of the EGR path (40a) for controlling the flow rate of EGR gas flowing through the EGR path (40a); and a gate valve (42), disposed on the other end of the EGR path (40a), for opening and closing the EGR path (40a).In this fault diagnosis method, after the EGR control valve (41) is closed in response to a stop request to the engine (10), the ambient pressure against the EGR control valve (41) is detected, and on the basis of the results of this detection, the presence or absence of operation abnormality of the EGR control valve (41) and/or the gate valve (42) is assessed</p> |
