The invention relates to a process for producing particles comprising metal-organic framework (MOF) compounds. The particles produced by the process are especially suitable for cleaning or separating gases, or for removing toxic gases from air. The production process is characterised in that gelation of an MOF gel precursor solution takes place in a fluid immiscible with the MOF gel precursor solution, or in pores of a macroporous matrix. Advantageously, it is thus possible to obtain binder-free particles.
