METHOD FOR REMOVING VECTORS WITH SIMILAR RANGES FROM A CANDIDATE PREDICTION MODE LIST AND APPARATUS USING SUCH METHOD

Disclosed is a method for removing vectors having similar ranges from a list of candidate prediction modes and an apparatus which uses the method. The method for removing similar range vectors from list of candidate prediction modes, and the apparatus which uses such method, can include a step of removing motion vectors having similar ranges from a list of candidate prediction motion vectors if there is a step which determines whether there are motion vectors with similar ranges among outputted prediction motion vectors and there is a presence of motion vectors with similar ranges. Accordingly, the efficiency of encoding / decoding can be raised by including a variety of candidate prediction motion vectors in a candidate prediction motion vectors list by eliminating candidate prediction motion vectors with similar ranges.
