<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor whose reading speed is accelerated. <P>SOLUTION: An image sensor 1 comprises (m) ((m) is an integer equal to or more than 2) pieces of switching elements 2, (m) pieces of light-receiving elements 3 which are connected to input terminals 10 of the switching elements 2, (n) ((n) is an integer equal to or more than 2) pieces of shift registers 5 connected for each switching element group 4 to changeover terminals 11 of the switching elements 2 in the case where the switching elements 2 are divided for each of (n) pieces of switching element groups 4, adders 6 which are connected to output terminals 12 of the switching elements 2 for each switching element group 4, and a frequency division and delay unit 7 which frequency-divides a clock signal inputted from the outside into 1/n clock signals and outputs the frequency-divided 1/n clock signals to the shift registers 5, respectively, while delaying the frequency-divided 1/n clock signals by a predetermined time.
