PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, a display control method, and a program for improving user convenience in movement of a control target in an image.

SOLUTION: A display device includes: a display means that displays an image; an input means that receives an input of a movement instruction to move a control target in the image displayed by the display means, in a predetermined direction; and a control means that continues display of the image by the display means when the input means receives an input of the movement instruction in a situation where a movement destination in the predetermined direction of the control target is absent.
