<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing scyllo-inositol directly from myo-inositol at a high yield, only by direct microbial transformation. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a production method of scyllo-inositol, which comprises enzymatically transforming the substrate myo-inositol to the scyllo-inosose, in a solution of pH 6.0-8.5 and in the presence of NAD<SP POS="POST">+</SP>or NADP<SP POS="POST">+</SP>, which solution includes both of scyllo-inositol dehydrogenase and myo-inositol 2-dehydrogenase (EC1. 1. 1. 18) catalyzing the reaction of oxidizing myo-inositol in the presence of NAD<SP POS="POST">+</SP>or NADP<SP POS="POST">+</SP>to produce scyllo-inositol.
