SOLUTION: A data recording and reproduction device of this invention adopts the following technical means. When error correction inability occurs in error correction by a first error correction code, a second error correction code is read out, and error correction is performed by the second error correction code. Since the error correction by the second error correction code can be performed even though the error correction by the first error correction code cannot be corrected, the reliability of data can be improved.
