The extruder has a screw (2), whose geometric arrangement enables the separation of unplasticized resin in the plasticizing area and enables free-flowing melting. A cylinder (1) in the plasticizing area has locallly restricted recesses (4) in longitudinal and circumferential direction. The projection of the recesses is longer distinctive in axial direction of the cylinder than in circumferential direction of the cylinder.
