For the safety of personnel working at the edge of a sloping roof there is provided safety apparatus 2 which comprises an elongate walkway 4 which extends in use upwards over an edge region of the sloping roof, and a collapsible barrier arrangement 14 connected to an edge of the elongate walkway and moveable between a collapsed condition (Fig 1) and an erected condition (Fig 2). The barrier 14 is angled inwardly with respect to the elongate walkway and may be also be pivotally mounted for movement between the collapsed and erected conditions. A further invention is characterized in that the barrier is pivotally mounted to move between a collapsed and erected condition. Preferably, the apparatus includes at least one stabilizer arm 20 which extends perpendicular from the walkway to provide a counterbalance 22. |
