PURPOSE: A rapid charger for an electric vehicle is provided to improve a power factor by performing a PFC function using leakage inductance in a transformer without additionally inserting an inductor. CONSTITUTION: A transformer(100) insulates a rapid charger for an electric vehicle from an AC input source. A PFC converter(200) converts an AC voltage outputted from the transformer into a DC voltage. The PFC converter functions as a PFC function using the leakage inductance of the transformer. A buffering battery unit(300) is connected to the output of the PFC converter. A DC to DC converter(400) changes an output DC voltage of the PFC converter.
