PURPOSE: A method for classifying meteorological and non-meteorological echoes is provided to improve reliability of weather forecast by enhancing accuracy of measurable rainfall estimation while improving the quality of dual polarization radar data. CONSTITUTION: Dual polarization data is collected(S110). A fuzzy variable for meteorological and non-meteorological echoes is calculated from past dual polarization data(S120). A distribution function of the fuzzy variable for meteorological and non-meteorological echoes is drawn out(S130). A group function and a weighting factor are calculated from the distribution function of the fuzzy variable for the meteorological and non-meteorological echoes(S140). Echo classification is performed(S200) when the group function and the weighting factor are calculated(S100).
