PURPOSE: A global motion estimation method and an apparatus using a feature point of a background are provided to efficiently estimate global motion by estimating global motion. CONSTITUTION: A global motion estimation apparatus calculates a motion distance about a feature point of a background and a foreground about a reference image frame(S31). The apparatus classifies the feature points into a feature point of a background and a feature point of a foreground about a present image frame(S33). The apparatus estimates foreground motion about the current image frame by using the feature point(S35).
