The device has a lens (8) i.e. microlens, comprising a surface (9) corresponding to an image element that is to be represented, where the lens surface is formed as a free formed surface such that light emitted by a lighting unit (7) i.e. LED, is directed by the lens corresponding to the image element on a display region (3) during illumination of the lens. The lighting unit and the lens project the image element on the display region. The display region serves as an actuation region for a manual action i.e. manual pressure action, by a user and for creation of a switching signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a switching element (2) a method for creation of a free forming lens for representation of an image element on a display region.
