Disclosed are a method and a device for suppressing ambient noise. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a lowest ambient noise intensity threshold and a highest ambient noise intensity threshold; and during a call, filtering out a voice signal whose intensity is greater than the lowest ambient noise intensity threshold and smaller than the highest ambient noise intensity threshold in an original voice signal, so as to obtain a first processed voice signal. By acquiring the lowest ambient noise intensity threshold and the highest ambient noise intensity threshold, and filtering out noise between the two thresholds during a call, the present invention can greatly reduce background noise in a noisy environment and improve the quality of a voice signal of the call, and has advantages of low cost and high flexibility.
