Embodiments of the invention provide a method and device for data processing. For a transmitting end, the method for data processing comprises: obtaining the data to be processed, and the channel coding mode for the data to be processed; according to the channel coding mode, and the pre-established corresponding relation between the channel coding mode and the modulation mode determining the modulation mode for the data to be processed; coding the data to be processed according to the channel coding mode, and modulating the data to be processed according to the determined modulation mode; transmitting, according to a fixed symbol rate, the processing result of the data to be processed after coding and modulating. Utilizing the solution provided by the invention, the complexity of data processing for the transmitting end can be reduced effectively, and the detecting workload during the process of identifying the coding mode for the receiving end is reduced at the same time, and the complexity is reduced.
