<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging container capable of reliably preventing deterioration of freshness, flavor, and appearance of food by sufficiently absorbing water, blood or the like coming from the food in the packaging container without any risk that the child or a pet may eat a water-absorbing mat by mistake. <P>SOLUTION: This packaging container 1 includes a substrate 50 of a container body and a porous olefin based water absorption resin film 60 adhered over the entire surface of the substrate 50. The olefin based water absorption resin film 60 is obtained by laminating a water absorbing layer 61 and a waterproof layer 62, wherein a surface at the side of the waterproof layer 62 is adhered to the substrate 50, and a surface at the side of the water absorbing layer 61 is disposed at the side of an article to be housed of the container. The water absorbing layer 61 includes 25 to 55 wt.% of olefin based resin and 45 to 75 wt.% of inorganic fine powder having a surface treated with a hydrophilization agent.
