METHOD OF TESTING ACTIVITY OF POTENTIALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCE TO INHIBIT ENZYMATIC ACTIVITY OF PHOSPHOLIPASE A2

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of testing the activity of a potentially active substance to inhibit the enzymatic activity of phospholipase A2.

SOLUTION: The method includes (a) placing the potentially active substance in the presence of the phospholipase A2 and a phospholipid substrate which contains at least one fatty acid having an ester form, preferably a long chain having between 15 and 22 carbon atoms, and more preferably an unsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acid, and can release at least one fatty acid in hydrolysis thereof, and (b) measuring the enzymatic activity of the phospholipase A2, wherein the measurement especially includes detection of the presence of the fatty acid and determination of the amount thereof if necessary. Especially the test method enables to identify and select an effective component which can inhibit the enzymatic activity of the phospholipase A2.
