<p>This system is for controlling a multi-fuel internal combustion engine provided with: a plurality of cylinder blocks; an exhaust pathway connected to each cylinder block; a merged exhaust pathway formed by merging the plurality of exhaust pathways; and a three-way catalyst disposed in the merged exhaust pathway. A specific cylinder block is caused to operate by means of gaseous fuel when the three-way catalyst is able to adsorb nitrogen oxides in the exhaust, and when the three-way catalyst is poisoned by hydrocarbons in the exhaust. By means of such a system for controlling a multi-fuel internal combustion engine, it is possible to avoid the situation of the operation of the internal combustion engine being halted in the state of a specific three-way catalyst being HC poisoned, and so it is possible to effectively take advantage of the NOX adsorption ability of the specific three-way catalyst when the internal combustion engine is in a cold state.</p> |
