Authentication method for an automation system

The method involves accessing an automation system (1) by using access interfaces e.g. Profibusinterface (7), Ethernetinterface (5) and Profibusport (8). The access to the automation system is controlled when authentication of the access is demanded and checked during access test over the access interfaces, where a digital certificate, device name or password is demanded for authenticating the access. Access authorization to the automation system is guaranteed or rejected based on checking result. An independent claim is also included for an automation system comprising automation devices.
