The present application is directed to image analysis and more particularly to the identification of target sites in a biological sample, specifically, but not exceptionally, cell nuclei, which is applied to the problem of automating the diagnosis of cervical cancer using Raman Spectroscopy. The application now provides a method of screening a sample to identify potential abnormalities comprising the basic steps of using image analysis to identify cell nuclei in the sample; and determining from said image analysis a likelihood value for the presence of an abnormality in the identified cell nuclei. |
