<p>A cyclonic separator for a vacuum cleaner that comprises a cyclone stage, a chamber (15) and a silencer (5). The chamber comprises a plurality of ports through which fluid discharged from the cyclone stage enters the chamber. The silencer is located in the chamber and comprises a plurality of baffles (34). Fluid entering the chamber through one of the ports collides with a first side of one of the baffles (34) and fluid entering the chamber through another of the ports collides with a second opposite side of the one of the baffles. The baffles thus act to reduce fluid from the two ports colliding with one another. As a result, a quieter cyclonic separator may be achieved.</p> |
