<p>A three part rail and link system for the attachment of thermal insulation to existing building and provision of a mechanical fixing point on the insulation. The system comprises (1) a rail that is attached to the building substrate, (2) a sliding link piece that engages in this rail having a number of spikes attached to it, (3) a furring strip that is attached to the spikes once they have been pushed through hard insulation board. This strip both retains the insulation and creates a mechanical fixing point for building facade finishes. This system thereby allows insulation to be attached to the building but creates a continuous link from the original building substrate to the exterior face of the insulation; allowing a new facade to be easily mechanically tied into the existing building. The insulation retaining and furring strip may be attached by screwing through pre-drilled holes into guide holes in the spikes, or by means of pushing home toothed fixings that mesh with toothing inside the spikes.</p> |
