<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of achieving multi-gradation expression including neutral color while suppressing undesirable "flicker" during renewing screen with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: Electrophoretic particles includes n-kinds of charged particles C1, ... Ck, ..., Cn each has a different threshold voltage at which each charged particle starts color forming and electrophoresis. Each charged particle C1, ..., Ck, ..., Cn satisfies a relation characteristics of threshold voltage of charged particle C1>...>threshold voltage of charged particle Ck>...>threshold voltage of charged particle Cn.
