<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid writing instrument which has smooth writing feeling and also exhibits clear color change in handwriting and, furthermore, whose afterimage is hardly visually recognized in the place where the handwriting is formed on a writing surface when the handwriting is decolored, and which has excellent erasing properties of handwriting, and to provide a solid writing instrument set using the solid writing instrument. <P>SOLUTION: The solid writing instrument includes: a reversibly thermochromic microcapsule pigment in which a reversibly thermochromic composition is encapsulated, wherein the reversibly thermochromic composition comprises at least (a) an electron-releasing coloring organic compound, (b) an electron-accepting compound, and (c) a reaction medium for reversibly generating the electron releasing and receiving reaction by the components (a) and (b) in a specific temperature range; polyalkylene wax; and polyalkylene glycol having a number-average molecular weight of 3,000 or more and/or ketones having a melting point of 50°C or lower.
