PURPOSE: A probe for detecting gene mutation is provided to specifically detect gene mutation without effect of other mutation. CONSTITUTION: A probe for detecting gene mutation from a base sequence encoding a subject gene containing a target gene mutation and non-target gene mutation contains cytosine at 3'-end or 5'-end. The cytosine is labeled with a fluorescence dye. A method for detecting a target gene mutation comprises: a step of contacting the probe with a single-stranded nucleic acid to prepare a hybrid; a step of changing sample temperature and measuring change of the fluorescence signal; a step of obtaining Tm value based the change of the fluorescence signal; and a step of detecting the presence of the target gene mutation based on the Tm value.
