PORTABLE DEVICE, SERVER, RETRIEVAL SYSTEM AND RETRIEVAL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device capable of displaying a proper retrieval result to a user by properly distributing retrieval in a terminal and retrieval in a server in accordance with a retrieval condition.

SOLUTION: The portable device for retrieving data coincident with a specified retrieval condition has: retrieval condition inputting means for receiving an input of a retrieval condition; metadata storing means for storing metadata about data; determining means for determining whether to perform retrieval in the portable device or to perform the retrieval in an external server from the retrieval condition; retrieving means for retrieving data coinciding with the retrieval condition in the metadata when the determining means determines that the retrieval is performed in the portable device; retrieval condition transferring means for transferring the retrieval condition to the server when the determining means determines that the retrieval is performed in the server; receiving means for receiving retrieval results of the server; retrieval result extracting means for extracting only data included in the metadata storing means among the retrieval results of the server; and screen displaying means for displaying the retrieval result of the retrieving means or the retrieval result extracting means.
