<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system and a base place estimation method which can improve the convenience thereof by enabling highly accurate estimation of the base place of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An arrival/departure point including the start point from which a vehicle 100 has started and an arrival point at which the vehicle having started from the start point has arrived is recorded, and the information relating to the recorded arrival/departure point is sequentially stored in a storage device 220 of a center 200. A base place estimation section 232 constituting the center 200 estimates the start point which has relatively high distribution of arrival points diverged from common start points as the base place of the vehicle 100, which is stored as an arrival/departure point in the storage device 220.
