<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus, a control method thereof, and a program that are capable of acquiring image data having preferable quality without damaging document separation performance. <P>SOLUTION: The image reading unit comprises: a feeding unit that feeds a document; a reading unit that reads an image of the fed document; an image compressing unit that compresses image data on the image; a storage unit having a predetermined size; and a control unit that controls the operation of the apparatus. The image reading apparatus compresses the image data on the document obtained by the reading unit, and stores the compressed image data in the storage unit. The image reading apparatus detects the size of the obtained compressed image data, and detects a maximum compressed image data size among compressed image data size detected until a new document is fed by the feeding unit. In a case where the new document is fed by the feeding unit, when the maximum compressed image data size is less than an empty capacity of the storage unit, the image reading apparatus allows the feeding unit to feed a new document. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
