<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain air bag device applied to a vehicle having a thin front pillar to improve occupant protecting performance against rolling over of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A curtain air bag 12 of the curtain air bag device includes: a main chamber 36 contained in a roof side part 18 connected with the rear side of a front pillar 16 in a folded state; and a front side sub chamber 40 provided integrally with the main chamber 36 and contained in a roof header part 62 in the folded state. The main chamber 36 expands with gas supplied thereinto in the event of side colliding of the vehicle and rolling over of the vehicle and is spread like a curtain toward the vehicle lower part. The front side sub chamber 40 expands with gas supplied thereinto at least in the event of rolling over of the vehicle and is spread in front of the main chamber 36 such that its lower end side is superimposed on a front side door when viewed from side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
