<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for contactless continuous measurement of proliferation of a specimen during cultivation, and applicable from the acquirement of experimental data to the management of production conditions. <P>SOLUTION: The method for contactless continuous measurement of proliferation of a specimen during cultivation comprises radiation of a specimen under shaking culture with light from the outside, measurement of variation of light intensity of transmitted light, reflected light or both light beams caused by the increase of optical density according to the proliferation of the specimen liquid and comparison of the measured data with a model data of optical density.
