Systems and methods for the computerized management of patent information. Various computer-implemented methods and apparatuses provide a more intuitive and meaningful visual representation of key aspects relating to the patent prosecution normally encountered with respect to the management of the prosecution of multiple patent cases. In an embodiment, the system provides a visual representation of each individual patent family within the viewed set or subset of families. In an embodiment, the system provides a visual representation of the relative timeline of the progress of a particular patent case. In an embodiment, the system provides a visual representation of the budget and cost information associated with at least some of the events on the timeline representation of a given case.
