<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for adding common additional information by category, capable of adding common additional information by web page category to a retrieval result page consisting of only snippets corresponding to a retrieval query. <P>SOLUTION: A device 1 for adding common additional information by category: extracts by an additional information extracting unit 142, for each Web page stored in an archive DB 131, additional information related to a common word corresponding to a category to which the Web page belongs, and stored in a common word DB 132; and stores a URL indicating the Web page, the common word, and the additional information in an additional information DB 133.
