<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for discriminating and enumerating various constituent subpopulations or types of hematological cells in biological samples, and more particularly, to provide a high-throughput automated device for this purpose. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method of performing an automated, rapid, extended leukocyte discrimination for multiple cell types, for example, preferably for five normal leukocyte populations as well as at least two atypical populations.
