PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-bridged Cp-Ar transition metal complex serving as a catalytic component capable of efficiently and highly selectively producing 1-hexene through the trimerization reaction of ethylene; a method for producing the silicon-bridged Cp-Ar transition metal complex; and a method for producing the 1-hexene.

SOLUTION: The transition metal complex is represented by formula (1). The method for producing the same is also provided. The 1-hexene is produced, in the presence of a catalyst of the formula (1), through the trimerization reaction of ethylene.
