The present invention relates to statistical line and edge detection, extraction and/or enhancement. One aspects relates to method that includes identifying 205 a plurality of data values related to a first object defined by a first plurality of points within a seismic volume, wherein the first object intersects a second object defined by a second plurality of points within the volume 210. A statistical significance statistic related to the second object is calculated 210a and a P-value related to the statistical significance statistic; is interpolated 210b. A significant P-value taken over the second object is determined 220, wherein the significant P-value comprises a minimum P-value that provides a maximum negative log(P(statistical significance statistic)). The significant P-value may be used to identify an edge represented by the seismic data. The statistical significance statistic may be determined using a parametric or non-parametric test.
