The method involves impinging a melting web (30) or partial areas of an upper surface of a cooling roller (21,22) with an opposite cooling efficiency. A higher or lower cooling efficiency than the remaining upper surface of the cooling roller is generated at the partial areas of the upper surface. The partial areas of the upper surface corresponding to the markings (40) are formed from material with higher or lower thermal conductivity as compared to the material for the formation of the remaining upper surface. An independent claim is included for a device for manufacturing of foil on the basis of a thermoplastic material.
