An adapter (14) for a dispensing device is adapted to couple an actuator to a syringe including an elongate body and a flange. The adapter includes first (30) and second (32, 34) slots extending inwardly from the side wall, each slot defining at least one of differing shapes and differing sizes for accomodating different syringes having different flanges. The first and second slots may be at least partially coextensive or may be separated by a divider wall. The first and second slots may be shaped to couple with circular flanges, flanges with flats, or flanges including finger grip portions. Thus, the adapter may couple various syringes to the actuator.
