PURPOSE: A distance estimation system in a wireless sensor network, distance estimation apparatus, and method thereof are provided to effectively estimate a distance between nodes in a wireless sensor network using the probability distribution of consumption time. CONSTITUTION: A distance estimation apparatus(107) includes a reception unit(201), a probability distribution calculation unit(203), and a control unit(205). A plurality of packet turnaround times is individually measured according to a distance between nodes. The probability distribution is calculated by the usage of the packet turnaround time. The probability distribution estimates the distance between a first node and a second node using the turnaround time measured between the first and the second node.
