<p>This invention concerns an input method for Chinese language electronic devices. The mainstream trend for Chinese language personal computer input is to use the quanpin method, which is unrelated to phonology, to input one character sound with one to six keystrokes. The present invention is a method of automatic switching between an initial keyboard and a final keyboard in a personal computer that employs the shuangpin method in which Chinese phonology is reflected. By setting the initial keyboard with the semi-vowels i, u, ü and reducing in half the keys of the final keyboard, a one-to-one correspondence of two to three keystrokes per character sound is made possible, greatly improving the human interface while enabling the use as is of the current quanpin dictionary. Also, a portable input terminal is achieved in which the initial keyboard and final keyboard are divided in two so that by manual switching, there is a one-to-one correspondence between keystroke sequence and character sound while the number of keystrokes is the same as in a quanpin personal computer.</p> |
