PURPOSE: A database for a navigation device, a method outputting 3D expression of topography and a method for generating the database are provided to define a triangulated irregular network about triangle patches, thereby easily data combination. CONSTITUTION: A database(10) includes digital elevation model data defining a 3D surface of topography. The database stores a first array(23) and second arrays(24,25). The first array includes a 3D coordinate of peaks of triangulated irregular networks about tiles of tiling. The second arrays define sides of a triangle of the triangulated irregular networks.
